Mercy (a tad Sci Fi)

This is my contribution to Hélène Vaillant’s “What do you see?” challenge.

I have to admit this is going to be a bit strange. But it wanted to come out this way. The picture beckoned…

Mercy

Hello, hello…. Hello?

Mom?

Dad?

Anyone home?

Hello?

Is anyone home?

Where is everybody?

What is this place?

Odd.. So odd…

“Where is Mercy, Hale?”

“I don’t know, Grace? I checked her room and she is gone!”

Frantically searching the house, Mercy’s parents, upon entering the living room were horrified to find a large smoldering hole in the ceiling.

Hello…. Mom? Dad? It’s me Mercy. Where are you? I can hear you but can’t see you.

Mom? Dad? Hello?…..

Grace woke up from a bad dream. “Oh dear, X-Files after a big meal is never a good idea. Come on Hale, time to go to bed.”

As they passed Mercy’s room Grace peered through the door and whispered, “Oh Hale, Mercy is tucked away fast asleep.”

“Thank the Lord!” answered Hale.

They went to bed and fell asleep peaceful and content.

Mercy was then transported away in a big spaceship.

    1. Thank you, Jules. I’ll check out the link. I think yes, she was taken home. I was seeing surreal and the miscommunication that often exists between parents and their children. Children have great imagination that is largely missed by the big people. I remembered as a child not being heard, and not understanding the parents. Kind of like the parents in Charlie Brown just making unrecognizable sounds.

  1. Oh my goodness, this is precious. How wonderful it is to let it flow when it needs to be told. I enjoyed reading this Jordy. I hope Mercy will be happy and not scared.
